With the Edsel refusing to start it was the daily driver again for me. So it was the usual no
qualms run down to Billing.
The caravan was soon set up and a well deserved cool beer was soon dispatched from the
fridge. It was strange to see Billing so quiet but it was only Wednesday evening.
Thursday morning and a misty start but later on in the day the mist cleared and the sun shone. The forecasters had predicted a good weekend and so far they had got it right. One or two more arrivals including Dave and Lou East and my In-laws Stewart and Pauline came down earlier than the expected Friday. A trip over to the Pub at the entrance for tea and the food was fantastic and cheap. (2 meals for a Tenner). Then back to the vans for another couple of beers and catch up on the winter months activities, Hemi had arrived and set up so he joined us but it was soon time to hit the ZZZ's. Fresh air and relaxing doesn't half make you tired quickly I was knackered....

Traders arriving and setting up could only mean one
thing.....It was the official start of the AACI Season for this
show it was decided to arrange the traders around the
edges of the showfield instead of the usual “Traders Alley”
and it worked well with many favourable comments from
both the traders themselves and the visitors to their stalls.
The night’s entertainment was again provided by Lou the
resident DJ of the AACI but again it was soon time for the
inaugural " Midnight Barbie" even though it was freezing.
Jeez did the temperature drop when it went dark.
A misty start to Saturday was followed by bright sunshine
and the people just kept on arriving.
The showfield has never been as busy on a Springnat’s
Saturday with exhibits reaching the middle road and beyond.
If this continued it would break all the previous Springnat’s
records.
There was a special presentation made to Naneeta on the
Saturday morning.
For those of you that remember Naneeta’s buggy was
thrown into the river by some mindless yobs on the
Saturday night at the All Clubs Rally last year and the
subsequent collection and generous donations made by the
members allowed her to purchase a new one which was
then painted and murals added by our new chairman….Mo
at his paint shop (Insprayation). Although it had already
been given to her it was officially handed over, with the local
press there to mark the event.
The showfield was busy for a Saturday in fact nearly as
busy as the Summernats Saturday.
For most people though the rest of Saturday was spent just relaxing in the April sun and catching
up with all the latest news and probably sinking a few cold ones.
Saturday night’s entertainment in the marquee was again handled very ably by Lou until the band
came on stage. The Jets had been booked and they were good in fact they were very good and
hopefully will be back again soon.
Stunning Vette arrived on a
trailer ..a car this good needs
to be driven .....
Just a few of the Saturday cars on the very busy showfield
i have never seen it so busy for a Saturday except for the
Summernats.
