AACI
Leicester Show
A Wet, Windy, and definatly Wild time was
had by all..
The weather this season has played a large part in the attendance figures of shows, this time
last year there had been some fantastic weather tempting many more owners to venture out with
their vehicles. The weather considering that we are in the so called Summer has been pretty
abysmal... But even though this show was plagued with bad weather, those that preferred to
stay at home and not even come out on Sunday missed "ONE HELL OF A WEEKEND".
In a lot of respects the smaller club shows are sometimes better than the bigger venues in as
much that you tend to get to know people more and that is exactly what happened this
weekend..I correspond with a lot of people through the various forums that I belong too and this
weekend gave me the chance to put names to faces..It was good to meet some of you, Finlay,
Colin, Mr Chrome, Dave and your good lady Lou who despite directing me to the muddiest spot
on the field  causing me to get bogged down ( Thanks Redneck for towing my caravan out and
to the guys for pushing my Edsel from the bog)  And Lou I forgive you, thankfully it rained all the
way back home so it won't take me as long as I thought too clean the underneath of the car.....
With no sign of the weather sorting itself out  a
"Pop Quiz was held in the marquee. ( and
typically as soon as the quiz got under way
the sun came out). With the bar prices at a
very reasonable level it made for a great
atmosphere and a few drinks were consumed
during its course. The bucking Bronco had
been moved inside and one or two brave
souls were tempted to partake, me I kept my
feet firmly on terra  firma. All too soon it was
time to head back and get some food and get
ready for the nights entertainment.
The owner had organised some sawdust to
be put down in the marquee and in the places
on the field that were taking the most traffic
and this gave it a kind of spit and sawdust feel
to it (Redneck felt right at home). It reminded

Once the band had finished the adults ( or should
that be grown up kids) got into the groove with some
even venturing onto the Bronco...
The party carried on until 3:am but I left at around
1:00 am having been up since 5:30 the previous
morning  I was knackered  .........

souls next morning
"DJ" didnt last that long.....  33 secs
Sunday Show and Shine
(well it did for a few minutes)
Sunday morning was wet and I got a lie in until 9:45, normally my little girl is up very early...
One or two folks had already put there cars on the showfield and eventually I did the same. There
were some real nice one's as well despite the weather. ( Nice to see the weather didn't put some
people of after all it's only water). One of my fellow Edsel club members Alison was there with her 59
Ranger so after giving the wheels a quick wipe down to get rid of the mud I said my hello's and went
back to the caravan for some breakfast.
With no change in the weather the raffle and prize giving was brought forward to 1:30 pm and the
highlight of the raffle was Eddie the site owner and all round good guy winning the college jacket
that he had his eye all weekend...Well done " it suits you sir".
One of the most surprised faces at prize time was Alison, who's 59 Edsel picked up a trophy "Well
done ".....
With the raffle and prize giving over it was time to pack up and get and early start back home,
Nice and very tastefully done

"Redneck Daves" Dodge ram.... was a savior to
many over the weekend. Thanks for dragging my
caravan out of the mud mate......
And finally a big thank you to Dave and Lou for a brilliant weekend. To those that didn't
go make sure you put this show on your list for
"MUST GO TO" next year as you will
regret it if you don't.
Local Club shows need your support and if they don't get it they are in danger of
disappearing for good and there have been far too many lost already! and besides
what else can you do on a wet weekend in May...
On second thoughts don't answer that one.......

me of the old days in the "Yate's" bar in Manchester. The evenings entertainment was provided by
"Sound Investment" from the AACI shows at Billing and a grand job they did too.
The band did two spots and although they looked like they would be more at home at a country club
type function they were really good and played some excellent music.
