Up bright and early thanks to my daughter Megan. Kettle on and time for a wake up brew.I
sat outside in the early morning sunshine and reflected on the past few months,  all those
late nights and early mornings were now worthwhile just being part of all this made you
feel good inside and I couldn't help but smile to myself as I sat looking at my Edsel shining
in the sunshine.
Whilst Lisa ( my better half ) got on with the task of cooking breakfast, Megan and I went
for a mooch round the site. It makes you realize just how vast the site is when you walk
round early morning and the logistics of arranging everything must be tremendous.
As we walked round a couple of things caught my eye, the bikes present and how many late
model stock American vehicle's were present. Now don't get me wrong I have nothing
against late model stuff but to me the real taste of America is the older machinery mainly
50's 60's and 70's stuff with early 30's 40's hot rods being my favourites.  I appreciate
that not everybody has the time and skill to keep the older stuff on the road but surely it
must be more rewarding. But as they say " Whatever floats your boat "
The " BIG RIGS " are always part of
the show at Americana and these fine
examples were some of the early
arrivals on Thursday.
The number of vendors stalls was down on last year and this year there was only one aisle
as opposed to two the previous year. One thing that does surprise me is that there are no
actual automotive parts related stalls. I am sure trade would be brisk as in my experience
people always buy bits and pieces at shows, I know I do.

A few jobs needed to be finished on the Edsel  so after a good breakfast I started these.
The main job was to finish the polishing, even though the car was covered and out side of
the garage it still managed to get overspray dust on it? With the body polished and the
engine bay cleaned and polished I sat back with a beer and again a smile came on my face it
was hard to believe that I had made the Edsel look this good ( but that is my opinion and
I'm sticking to it )

I saw Alison and Paul arrive waved and shouted but they didn't hear, I will call over later to
them after they have had time to set-up.
A few more of the Blacktops arrived and finally the In-Laws arrived. No matter how many
times I see Stewarts truck it still makes me go
WOW  and I guess it always will.

As you get older and the amount of shows you attend gets longer one thing never changes
the basic procedure is always the same Run around like a headless chicken getting
everything ready set off hit traffic get stressed hit the open road put your foot down and
eventually arrive at the show site. You book in find your club/mates set up grab a beer or
two and laugh at  those that struggle with their tents etc: and watch the cars roll by.

As I had said I saw Alison and Paul arrive and took the Edsel over for them to see it and
mainly to get their opinion as Alisons encouragement was grateful at times. It seemed to go
down well with her and Paul. After a brief chat. Alison recommended the group that were
playing in the Lady Eastwood pavilion that night "The Extrodinaires" I left Alison and Paul to
get ready for the night times entertainment.

Winnebago and matching Airstream
Caravan must be a nightmare to keep
clean.
Can you imagine following this in
bright sunshine.
It sure looked great and I wouldn't
mind the Airstream to tow for the
period look.
