Berkeley Castle Classic Car Show.
29th May 2006
Word and Pics by Alison Organ
Well  so many shows were cancelled this weekend due to
the bad weather. I was really cheesed off because I took
the Edsel to Swindon as the further afield shows had been
cancelled already. The ground the was already beginning to churn up, and after meeting David Green
and his 58 ranger it poured with rain.In fear of getting stuck we left after a hour and a half that must be
a record!
So when it was suggested we go to Berkeley Castle on the BankHoliday Monday. I must confess, I left the
Edsel at home and filled the trunk of Jim's Pt Cruiser with wellies and hot drinks.I must point out that the
road below the Castle floods in bad weather! But as you can see by the pictures although showery, the
exhibits standards were very high perhaps I better note this one for next year.

There was a Capone era Cadillac complete with tommy gun! A nice example of a Vauxhall Wyvern, a pretty
Mk I zephyr, an A40 convertible from 1951 body by Jensen in yellow. 1930 Chrysler 77 with some wicked
louvres in the body rodders take note.

E93a commercial truck, A35 van in black and white motorways livery, 1995 Bampton caravan,1959 Sterling
(Kev wants One!) 46 Hudson convertible, 1960 De Soto, rare 28 Studebaker, Edsels take note Mk4 zodiac
beset with troubles at time of manufacture made by Ford. 39 Plymoth Sedan. Austin Princess Ambulance
.one for the kids a rare Austin J type pedal car. 38 Hudson Great 8. 1960 Buick Electra 1927 Austin C Cab
van 1931 Chrysler Roadster .

Just goes to show that you should support your local shows becuase you never know what beauties you
may find there!
Some nice Classic British and American vehicles on show. Many thanks to Alison (Edselmom) for taking the
time to send the report in.

Berkeley Castle has been the home of the Berkeley family
for 850 years. Its mentioned in Shakespeare's play
Richard III and Edward II was imprisoned in the dungeon
and murdered there. (My ancestor Sir Frances Drakes
17th century furniture is on display there)
