Rock ‘n’ Roll Weekend 2006
The second of the AACI's Rock 'n' Roll weekenders again proved a hit and just
goes to show that the music and the cars provide a valuable link to each other
to the overall enjoyment of the hobby.

The weather played a big part this year and although the numbers were
slightly down on last years those that attended were not disappointed.
Friday nights entertainment was provided by Lou in the marquee and from all
accounts was a good night.
I arrived mid - Saturday morning after a last minute thrash too try and get my
Edsel ready, but time beat me again. The disc brake conversion was finished
but problems arose on the way back from Rumbles n Roars (the disc's got
very hot ) but never having used floating calipers before I wasn't sure if this
was  a common fault. Anyway after some adjustments to the brake pedal
assembly hopefully they should be OK. But not having time to road test them
properly I wasn't about to take the chance. After setting up, time for a brew
anything to get warm. The sun was shining but there was a bitterly cold wind.
There were a good selection of cars on the showfield and the trade stalls
seemed to be a bit quiet but it was still early in the day.
The rest of the day was spent just relaxing around the campsite and
eventually it was time to head to the marque for the nights entertainment.
Richie from "
Real Rock Jive" was doing a guest spot at the decks and played
some quality tunes. His set finished all too soon and it was time for the band
to come on.
Harry had booked "The Heartbreakers" and although they were quiet at first
they soon warmed up and played an excellent set. The night ended again with
the usual wind down and barbie and then off to bed.( I was ready for some kip
as it had been a long day.)

I know some people like to be on the show field early but  7:30 am is a bit
early for me ( Thanks to that owner for the early morning call ) I managed to
drag myself out of my pit around 10:00am and after something to eat went
down to  the showfield. There was a great selection of vehicles there and the
quality was obvious to see.
