Arrived just after dinner Friday to camp Blacktops with Dave n Andrea and a few others already
camped up ready for action,John n Sue, Steve and his Mrs, Pat n Steve, Stu n Pauline, Jeff Dave
n Caron, Martin and Gill and the wye hye's's. Got set up then got a thirst on so it were party time,
bit of a party ensued and bbq was fired up and the vino flowed until it was time to go into the
clubhouse for even more beers, a great night was had by all and I were in bed by 11:30 and was
asleep on caravan floor quite content until around 4am when it were a bit chilly in my birthday suit.
Barb had been snuggled up in bed and left me were I was quite happy to hug the fridge all night.
Anyways Saturday started off with plenty a coffee and a wander round the trade stalls to grab a
few dvd's and t shirts etc, then it was dinner time and off on the cruise out around 30 miles to a few
different pubs for aJ20. Around 90 cars set off all armed with maps and soon broke up in different
directions, like wacky races we did all find a nice big pub with ample car park and spent an hour
there.
We had a film team doing a documentary on American car nuts and they asked us to stick to the
route but not to look at the camera as we drove past, but yep as everyone drove past it were slow
right down and pose or do yer hair, or a massive burnout,,I think a few did a couple a takes and a
few extra miles on that one, anyway back to Steel City for a feet up until the home made pie n
peas come out at 4.30. Andrea grabbed Dave a couple of extra portions as he were at work all
day and were meeting up with us at Leeds cruise later that night, thats the great thing about this
show when you have pre-booked,you get free bbq, free pie, peas n chip supper,a top brand annual
t shirt steel city style all thrown in so cost a weekend zero.
Then 5.30 Saturday came and it was get lined up for Leeds cruise and around 100 American
cars, Trucks n Rods lined up for the off, when we arrived it was well parked already with around 80
cars already at Burger King so when we turned up it were a great turnout, some awesome old
cars out too , then it was back to showground for the Saturday disco in the sports hall.
Thanks to Mad Mick for the brews fella and the headache, Andrea were dancing about all night
along with rest of the Blacktops and Mad Mick's Mad Cow Cruisers crew, and it were a top night
or morning as was the case as we were still in at 3am partying, and yes I walked back to caravan
unaided,
